Description: WM opened the MRF in 2026 and it is one of the largest by size and anticipated throughput in North America. The 127,000 square-foot facility features advanced technologies including 18 optical sorters and AI. It can process approximately 60 tons per hour of material (up to 275,000 tons of recyclables annually).
Date and Tour Capacity: Thursday, August 13. Two scheduled groups leaving one at 1 pm and the second at 2 pm. Capacity: 30 attendees each (total 60)
Registration: Open to all WR Expo registrants. Cost is $50.00. To add as an option when register. Available on a first come basis until capacity is exhausted. Appropriate safety gear will be provided by WM to tour attendees, but no open shoes are permitted.
Transportation and Duration: Round trip bus transportation will be provided between the Broward County Convention Center and WM's MRF. Total tour time is estimated to be approximately 3 hours (45 minutes to the MRF; one hour and 30 minutes for the tour, and 45 minutes to return to the BCCC).
Description: FCC Environmental Services facility began operations in 1991. The facility processes 815,000 annual tons of municipal solid waste. It converts more than 2,000 tons per day into electricity and recovers about 15,000 tons per year of metal for recycling.
